Silas Hurd This undated newspaper clipping was found in the Reference section of
the Edgerton Public Library [REF 977.5] in a large laminated album of old
newspaper clippings collected by Naomi Strasburg. Silas is John Hurd Senior's
great grandfather.
Silas Hurd's Land Purchases Starting in 1843, Silas Hurd travelled to Milwaukee's General Land
Office to buy various parcels of land in "Township Four North of Range Twelve
East," later called Fulton. The patent letters that describe each parcel were
passed down, and now are held by John Hurd.
